Bush & GOP FEARFUL of Oversight, Respond with... ALLITERATION?

Really? Alliteration? Why? Who knows...

BUSH SPOKESPERSON TONY SNOW, ON SUBPOENAS, CONTEMPT FOR (FEAR-OF) CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS...
"At this point, we have hundreds of hearings that have produced bupkis...

What we've been trying to do is to create a little air of dignity in this town, where at the very beginning of this Congress there was a lot of talk about getting work done, setting a new tone. And instead what have we gotten...?
We have got insults, insinuations, investigations and inquisitions."
Tony Snow - thinks you're stupid. Or he's whacked on the chemo-weed! "Insults?" Just tell-the-truth. [Coward!] Okay, damnit! How 'bout:
"IMPERITIVE! INITIATE IMPEACHMENT: INCOMPPETENT, IGNORANT, BUSH-IDIOTS... IMMEDIATELY!"?
*********************************
And then, some hack House Republican (stooge) from Texas, on Gonzales's Congressional-hearing -- disaster:
At one point, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.) [WHO?] voiced his objections to the hearing with an alliterative binge. "It's about partisan, pointless, petty political polluting
of the process," he said...
Political-prostitutes projecting their problems onto others! "Polluting the process?" Please! Hypocrisy, much? Pussies...

FBI & IRS Raid Senator Ted Stevens(R-AK) Alaska Home... "SMELL THE BOURBON," INDEED!

We called it a few days ago...
w/ a post titled somethin' like:
"CRAZY OLD COOT... &
Senior Senator from Alaska, Ted Stevens...
SMELL THE BOURBON...
"
With the following pic...We forgot to write anything in that post [:-}], so I guess you had to read b/w the lines -- but the point was,
Senator Stevens was about to be swept-up in SCANDAL... [Anchorage Daily News story: F.B.I./I.R.S.
Raid Senator Ted Stevens(R-AK) Alaska Home.]
We knew about his mounting (pork-laden corruption) problems from TPMmuckraker... which broke this story months ago. The MainStreamMedia sucks, Herb.

Ashcroft "General Hospital" episode was Directed by Dick Cheney... IMPEACH Alberto Gonzales - New York Times.

--UPDATE 7/29: JOHN ASHCROFT'S MEMORY IS UNRELIABLE, HE WAS HEAVILY MEDICATED, HALF-AWAKE, & IN-AND-OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS -- That's why Cheney sent 'em: Andy Card and Al Gonzales... [Bush & Condi weren't there -- that's the morphine!]END UPDATE--

Dick Cheney ordered the thugs to the Hospital, in 2004, to exploit the drugged & incpacitated John Ashcroft? Wan't it assumed it was the president? Oh, well...

NYT, Editorial:
"Mr. Gonzales’s Never-Ending Story"
President Bush often insists
(he's) the decider -
ignoring Congress,
and the public...
(and common-sense)

Americans have been waiting months (or years) for Mr. Bush to fire Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who long ago proved that he was incompetent and more recently has proved that he can’t tell the truth. (An Affimative Action mistake?) Mr. Bush refused to fire him after it was clear Mr. Gonzales lied about his role in the political purge of nine federal prosecutors. And he is still refusing to do so — even after testimony by the F.B.I. director, Robert Mueller, that suggests that Mr. Gonzales either lied to Congress about Mr. Bush’s warrantless wiretapping operation or at the very least twisted the truth so badly that it amounts to the same thing.

Mr. Gonzales ("Pepe") has now told Congress twice that there was no dissent in the government about Mr. Bush’s (unprecedented, secret) decision to authorize the National Security Agency to spy on Americans... ...that is not true...

(W)hen Mr. Gonzales was still the White House counsel — the Justice Department refused to endorse a continuation of the wiretapping program because it was illegal. (Mr. Comey was running the department temporarily because Attorney General John Ashcroft had emergency surgery.) Unwilling to accept that conclusion, Vice President Dick Cheney sent Mr. Gonzales and another official to (a heavily-medicated and barely lucid) Mr. Ashcroft’s hospital room (to take advantage of him.) to get him to approve the (illegal) wiretapping...
:::
...Mr. Gonzales is more concerned about doing political-damage control for Mr. Bush — in this case insisting that there was never a Justice Department objection to a clearly illegal program — than in doing his duty. ("DERELICTION OF DUTY") But the White House continued to defend him.
:::
Democratic lawmakers are asking for a special prosecutor to look into Mr. Gonzales’s words and deeds. Solicitor General Paul Clement has a last chance to show that the Justice Department is still minimally functional by fulfilling that request.

If that does not happen, Congress should impeach Mr. Gonzales.

Little Johnny asked, "Mommy, why is that little Mexican man, who told ALL THOSE LIES, still in charge of the LAW ?"

'Good question, Johnny...
Al Gonzales is a liar; and he's an idiot too.
But President Bush likes it that way; Uhh... because he messed up, real bad Johnny. and he doesn't wanna get in trouble... He's a bit of a coward... Okay
?
The ethically-challenged & scandal-plagued Bush Administration
makes PARENTING... HARD:
"What will we tell the children?"

10 years later...
[Johnny stole a car,
and lied to a Judge.]
G*d-damnit, Johnny!
IT IS NOT OKAY, under any circumstances,
TO LIE UNDER OATH! I don't care what
ALBERTO GONZALES did ten years ago:
[HE LIED REPEATEDLY under oath to conceal
GEORGE BUSH & KARL ROVE'S
CRIMINAL CONDUCT...]
But I told you, Johnny,
THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION are
NOT ROLE MODELS... even when they were
ATTORNEY F**KING GENERAL, and
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES...

Poor people [pity!] -- who have to
raise children these days.
'Confused Johnnies, Herb.

Logic Behind "Presidential Privilege" Should Exclude BUSH from using it: HE NEVER GOT "GOOD-ADVICE."

PRESIDENT BUSH [& DICK CHENEY, ETC.] SAYS "NO" TO EVERY BIT OF CONGRESSIONAL-OVERSIGHT, AND INVOKES PRESIDENTIAL PRIVILEGE... HE SAYS HIS [RETARDED?] DELIBERATIONS NEED TO BE PRIVATE SO HE CAN GET CANDID, "GOOD ADVICE."

BUT BUSH'S FAILURE TO GET GOOD ADVICE IS WELL-KNOWN. IN FACT, HE SEEMS TO GET ONLY BAD-ADVICE. HE DOESN'T LIKE CRITICISM, HE SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH YES-MEN... OIL-CRONIES, TEXANS, NEOCONS, AND PEOPLE LIKE DICK CHENEY -- NONE-OF-WHOM PUT THE INTERESTS OF THE COUNTRY FIRST...

SOMEONE SHOULD CALL HIM ON THAT SH!T.
*************************************
From a LEGAL STANDPOINT: attorney-client privilege does not apply to illegal-activities... Think of a dirty mob-lawyer; his communications with a client about covering-up a murder ARE NOT PRIVILEGED.

Similarly, Bush's communications with anybody about covering-up the possible MURDER of Pat Tilman, are NOT PRIVILEGED.

Most of Bush's claims of Executive Privilege would not hold up in a (un-infected) Court of Law... Especially the million-or-so ILLEGAL GOVERNMENT emails on the RNC servers [Karl?].

IMPEACH, TRY, CONVICT, & INCARCERATE. Then, throw-away the key(s), Herb

Bill O'Reilly has been smearing dailykos.com, obsessively... What's that about?

O'Really must feel threatened. He compared the site, which is just a popular liberal-blog, to "Nazis" ...?...

[ OLD COOT ] Senior Senator from Alaska, Ted Stevens... SMELL THE BOURBON!

Al Gonzales Embarrasses Himself; + Attorneys, Judges, & Mexicans Everywhere... AGAIN.

UPDATE 7/26:Responding to email-queries: The cartoon character... is "Slowpoke Rodriguez." He's the not-so-speedy cousin of Speedy Gonzales (no relation to Alberto). END UPDATE.

Appearing again before the Senate Judiciary Committee, AGAIN Alberto Gonzales was unbelievably PATHETIC.
HE IS A SHAMEFUL DISGRACE:
"I don't know what happened Senator... That's a good question; I don't know. (I can assure you that even though I don't remember anything...) Nothing improper occurred. Are we done here? I don't remember... I don't know. Can I go now? (The Xanax Karl gave me, it's wearin' off.) I don't know... I can't remember. I don't recall... Can I go now?"
If his sworn-testimony is true,
Then he's NOT FIT to be Attorney General.

Senators from both parties were visibly frustrated and called him, and/or accused him of being (among other things):
A "LIAR,"
"IMMATURE!"
"DISHONEST,"
"DECEPTIVE."
INCOMPETENT,
STUPID
LAZY
"UNTRUTHFUL,"
"PARTISAN,"
AN EMBARASSMENT.
UNQUALIFIED,
"UNTRUSTWORTHY,"
DERELICT...
"IN CONTEMPT."
"A PERJUROR."
What-the-hell kind of role-model is he as the Country's Attorney General? That's a rhetorical question! He should be in jail. Or worse...

The Bush Administration Legacy: Complete Obstruction of Justice [IMPEACHMENT + REMOVAL]

OBSTRUCTION-OF-JUSTICE (DEFINITELY):
The Busheviks, in large part, control the federal courts in most districts, as well as the Supreme Court. Through the Department of Justice – as we have painfully learned – they also control a largely partisan group of U.S. Attorneys.

In fact, the federal justice system in the United States has, in general, become an extension of the Republican Party.

That is why the Busheviks dropped the bombshell Friday... that if Congress issues contempt charges against individuals invoking executive privilege (in order to protect Bush and Cheney -- and Rove), then Bush would probably prohibit the Department of Justice from having the Washington D.C. U.S. Attorney pursue the charges.
:::
So, the White House is signaling to Congress,
"Don’t bother with contempt citations. You’re not going anywhere. We control the judges; we control the prosecutors; and we control the Department of Justice."
...The only remedy for the obstruction of justice on such a grand scale is...
IMPEACHMENT.
Amen! ...IMPEACHMENT...
I'm a believer! It's like Bush is double-dog-daring Congress to try it. It's the only way to hold the corrupt Bush White House accountable.
They should do it.

ABUSE OF POWER -- at every turn, from the Bush cabal. [Dick Cheney, Albert Gonzales, and then "Gee Dub." In-that-order; Add Karl Rove, if applicable, at your leisure.]

"High Crimes & Misdemeanors?" Duh, Herb.

The Elimination of the Middle Class -- The Sinking of the American Dream Raised a Few Boats...

Billionaire's Row:
· There are 7.5 million households in America worth up to $10m. A further two million are worth $10m-$100m and thousands are worth more than $100m.

· There is now a two-year waiting list for 200ft yachts. If put end to end, the boats on that list, which cost $50m each, would be 15 miles long.

· Sebonack Golf Club in the Hamptons, Long Island, charges $650,000 for membership. That doesn't include the $12,000 annual dues, or tips for caddies.

· Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have a private Boeing 767.

· John D. Rockefeller was America's first billionaire. Adjusted for inflation, he had $14bn - less than the net worth of each of Sam Walton's five children today. There were 13 US billionaires in 1985. Now there are more than 1,000. There are as many millionaires in North Carolina as in India.

Yep, fannatical Arab... Muslims.
Hmph! Well, I'll-be', Herb.

George W. Bush thinks he's a KING. [Yeah, we're screwed.]

TPM, Quoting a W. Post story [w/ EDITS!]:
Bush administration officials unveiled a bold [RECKLESS] new assertion of executive authority yesterday... [ABUSE OF POWER.] saying that the [GONZALES - PUSSY!] Justice Department will never ["NEVER"!] be allowed to pursue contempt charges initiated by Congress against [BUSH] White House officials once the president has invoked executive privilege...
That would mean:
"the de facto overthrow of congressional oversight." [David Kurtz]

NO, THANK YOU! I don't think these guys have really "earned" much in the line of "privileges." In fact, through their repeated lies, disastrous failures, and contempt for "rules" or American values, they shouldn't have any "privileges" of Office extended to them, Herb.

Political Theater? If so, it's all Bush (Rove) and it's Always a Tragedy... Bush's FAILED Presidency, and IRAQ.

"WASHINGTON - Democrats steered the Senate into an attention-grabbing, all-night session to dramatize opposition to the Iraq war but conceded they were unlikely to gain the votes needed to advance troop withdrawal legislation blocked by Republicans..."
["FILIBUSTERED."]
..."Our troops deserve better than publicity stunts," said Sen. Mitch McConnell...
[But not "up-or-down" votes? ...McConnell is a pussy.]
"We have no alternative
except to keep them in session to explain their obstruction," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada...
[Atta-boy!]

Remember when the Republicans wet-their-pants whining about "up-or-down" votes for ALL Bush's HACK Judge-appointments, even if those appointments had tails? [and/or hooves?]

Those same Republicans [HYPOCRITES]... NOW won't allow ANY legislation on Iraq for our troops: THEY'RE FILIBUSTERING EVERYTHING!

Senate Republicans are filibustering practically every piece of legislation to come before the senate.
What's with the media avoiding the word? "FILIBUSTER!" There, we said it... Remember: "obstructionists," and the Dem'-filibusters preventing up-or-down votes?
[That was abhorrent -- unconscionable!]
It should be clear that that's
what they're doing...
HYPOCRITES:
They are OBSTRUCTING... Obstructing legislation, obstructing oversight, and obstructing justice. What else? Okay...

BUSH's Many MISSIONS in IRAQ...

THE EVER-CHANGING "MISSIONS" IN IRAQ... THERE NEVER REALLY WAS A MISSION, OTHER THAN TO OVERTHROW HUSSEIN & TAKE IRAQ OVER -- OCCUPY THE COUNTRY -- AND STAY...!
OIL? SURE, BUT THERE'S MORE -- WELFARE AND FREE SECURITY FOR DICK CHENEY'S PALS @ KBR/HALLIBURTON -- [NO-BID FRAUD!] REBUILDING THE STUFF WE BLEW-UP, BUILDING EMBASSIES, BARRACKS, BASES, ETC., BASICALLY
'CUZ CHENEY'S
NEO-CRONIES THOUGHT IT'D BE COOL... $$$ [?] Your taxes, not at work!

HERE'S A LIST OF THE VARIOUS PUBLIC-RATIONALES FOR INVADING & OCCUPYING IRAQ INDEFINITELY... FROM BUSH HIMSELF. Thanks to ThinkProgress for doing all the "hard work."
___________________________________
"THE EVER-CHANGING "MISSION" IN IRAQ."
[Bush's mission is like
the movie: TRANSFORMERS ]

THE PRE-WAR MISSION WAS TO RID IRAQ OF WMD:
Bush: “Our mission is clear in Iraq. Should we have to go in... our mission is very clear: disarmament.” [3/6/03]
AFTER THE WAR BEGAN, THE MISSION EXPANDED:
Bush: “Our mission is clear, to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein’s support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people.” [3/22/03]

Bush: “Our forces have been given a clear mission: to end a regime... and to free a people that had suffered...” [4/14/03]
THEN THE MISSION WAS COMPLETE:
[F**d Up Beyond All Recognition, FUBAR]
Bush: "(The) mission is complete, and major combat operations in Iraq have ended."
[5/3/03]
BUT THEN IT CONTINUED AGAIN:
Bush: “The United States and our allies will complete our mission in Iraq.” [7/30/03]
THEN THE MISSION WAS TO DEVELOP A FREE IRAQ:
Bush: “That has been our mission all along, to develop the conditions such that a free Iraq will emerge...” [11/4/03]Bush: “We will see that Iraq is free and self-governing and democratic. We will
accomplish our mission.” [5/4/04]
AND TO TRAIN THE IRAQI TROOPS:
Bush: “And our mission is clear there: to train the Iraqis so they can do the fighting; make sure they can stand up to defend their freedoms... ” [6/2/05]

Bush: “The goal... is on the one hand, a political process moving forward in Iraq, and on the other hand, the Iraqis capable of defending themselves... we will complete this mission...” [6/20/05]
THEN IT SHIFTED TO ADVANCING DEMOCRACY:
Bush: “We will stay as long as necessary to complete the mission. …Advancing the ideal of democracy and self-government is the mission... ” [11/30/05]
AND PROTECTING AMERICA FROM TERRORISTS:
Bush: “...our ...mission in Iraq… helping the Iraqi people build a free and representative government... we will deny the terrorists a safe haven to plan attacks against America.” [3/11/06]

Bush: “We will finish the mission. By defeating the terrorists in Iraq, we will
bring greater security to our own country...” [3/18/06]
THEN THE MISSION WAS PROVIDING SECURITY FOR THE IRAQI POPULATION:
Bush: “...a new strategy with a new mission: helping secure the population, especially in Baghdad. Our plan puts Iraqis in the lead.” [1/13/07]

Bush: “...providing security... and training that is the current mission... with a heavy emphasis on security in Baghdad.” [4/10/07]
AND NOW?
Bush: “It’s a new mission... to help the Iraqis make progress toward reconciliation — to build a free nation that respects the rights of its people, upholds the rule of law, and is an ally against the extremists in this war.” [6/28/07]-END*-
Holy meta-morphosis, Batman!
It's 'specially-funny, how he keeps saying how "CLEAR" the MISSION is -- WHILE HE MUDDIES-IT-UP... More, each time, Herb.

The Mexican kid ("Al") was supposed to be protecting Her... The lazy-bastard fell asleep... Karl Rove then kidnapped, drugged, and raped Her before George Bush tortured, starved, then finally KILLED Her*... And She was pregnant! With TRIPLETS!!!

rank-politics, incompetent-Bush-judges, and political-prosecutors/trials...

George W. Bush -- Resume'

We found an old draft-copy of Gee-Dub's actual resume', [!], which is excerpted here... it's shorter (with commentary):
President George W. Bush[Son of President George H.W. Bush!]
Accomplishments as president: (edited)

Attacked and took over two third-world countries, using the United States armed forces... (and then somehow LOST!)

Spent a massive surplus (trillions!) and bankrupted the U.S. Treasury. (Oops!)

First president in decades to (gladly!) execute a federal prisoner. (Al was runnin' that.)

First President in US history to enter office with a criminal record. (It was a "felony," though...)

First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history. (I love "The GoGos!")

After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over (allowed) the worst security failure in US history: 9/11. (I was clearin' brush that... "oops.")

Set the record for more campaign fund-raising trips than any other president in US history. (In your airplane! AF-1)

In my first two years in office over 2.7 million Americans lost their jobs. (It's a new kinda "economy...")

Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history. (Just Watergaters & Iran Contrans)

Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. (Those things are hard, man!)

Signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than any president in US history. ('needed fixin'!)

Presided over the biggest (contrived - enron) energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed. ("supposedly")

Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have. (High prices are good with OIL, right?)

Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans. (They were freeloadin', Karl said...)

Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. (http://www.hyperreal.org/~dana/marches/)

Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history... (all by my-self!)

Most secretive, reckless, un-ethical, and un-accountable presidency of any in US history. ("Leadership...")

First president in US history to have all 50 states of the Union simultaneously go bankrupt. (Oops.)

Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world. (Ever!)

First president in US history to order a US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation. ("--'tried to kill my daddy.")

Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States.

Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in US history. ('cool, I charged it!)

First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the Human Rights Commission. (What?)

First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the elections monitoring board. (Shit!)

Removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional oversight than any presidential administration in US history. (Karl helped set that one up...)

Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant. (Hee-hee!)

Refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions. (No way dude! I'm special... "'different kinda-war.")

First president in US history to refuse United Nations election inspectors [during the 2002 US elections]. ('02... That one was pretty "fair?")

All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations. ($) ($$) ($$$!)

My biggest life-time campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history [Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation]. ("Kenny Boy!" Oh, sorry.)

Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in US history. (I'm a gut-ter... 'I dont - do - polls!)

First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.

First president to run and hide when the US came under attack [and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1].
(Dick - had it all under control, heh-heh.)

First US president to establish a secret shadow government. (Dick - again...)

Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world ['biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history]. ('what they say...)

With a policy of 'dis-engagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years. (It's called "stability," they'll learn.)

First US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability. Many people consider me a bigger threat to world peace than Saddam. (Wha'--?)

First US president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the US than their immediate neighbor, North Korea. ("Il?" "He's short!")

Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. (My pals are - all - C-O-O-L!)

Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts. ('honest-mistake?)

Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'. (Saddam used poison on-his-own-people... So? --you!)

Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capitol building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects. (Those were Democrats & journalists. Those "leaders!")

In the 18 months following the 911 attacks, successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States. (Dude... I was on vacation... so...)

Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history. (The ACLU is librul. So, well... )

In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war. (Gay marriage'll... ruin the country, think about it.)

Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down. (For the lil' people, maybe.)

COWARDS: If Bush & Cheney CAN'T HANDLE simple questions -- Congressional-oversight, or are so AFRAID OF [oaths?] personal/professional-responsiblity, THEY SURELY AREN'T PREPARED TO FIGHT A WAR! Nor lead a military... Or face our Nation's enemies! [the "tay'rists".]
"President Bush Wanted a Parade..."
Via The All-New
TalkingPointsMemo
["dot-calm"]:
"...It all brings into a rather fierce relief the question of what the hell we are doing in Iraq, a conflict that has made the war we are fighting against jihadism vastly more intractable and dangerous. We can't leave Iraq apparently because al Qaeda will be emboldened and will do much better at fundraising -- a revealing perspective on the part of the White House.

But al Qaeda is vastly emboldened in as much as they are actively regrouping in the Afghan-Pakistani border, where all the trouble came from the in the first place. And groups all over the Middle East, who have little if any actual connection to al Qaeda, are adopting the name al Qaeda in vicarious support or sympathy or, perhaps mostly and most damningly, because we've [Cheney & Bush!] managed to make it a strong brand.

And here we are, again, with the president introducing yet another new new direction in Iraq. Yes, the stakes of 'defeat' in Iraq are very high. And that's why so many people are so upset with this president because the whole thing is quite obviously a disaster and we are going to pay a very big price for it on many levels.
And it's his fault.
But let's not pretend that these are grave hypotheticals off in the future. They're here. It's a disaster. And we have to deal with it. Not pretend.

People ask what we're doing in Iraq. And you can answer in a hundred ways and in a thousand shades of literalism to metaphor. But at some level we're in Iraq because President Bush wanted a parade. It's not hard to imagine how he must have imagined it. A withdrawal of most American troops from a staunchly allied pro-American Iraq. [!] Waving flags. Heartfelt thanks and vindication [!!] for the president who had the guts and character to see it through.

And that's why we stay... [+ KBR!] Because somehow if he just keeps at it someday he might get his parade... [& Halli'!] Or rather if he just keeps us there forever he doesn't have to really deal wtih what a disaster he's created and fundamentally what a failure he is.

He wants the parade."
"A Parade?" It sounds about-right! Dick Cheney wanted... "WELFARE..."
We are scrude!

UPDATE 7/9:

QUI PRO DOMINA JUSTITIA SEQUITUR
= We Follow in Defense of Lady Justice.
JUSTITIA (JUSTICE - Symbolism) [edited]
"Justitia"...is the goddess Justice, known to the Roman civilization as Justitia.
["Themis," in Greek.]

She is ancient. No civilization will live very long without her. All claim to serve her... Her mother is said to be Wisdom, and she is said to intend to walk in the ways of her mother... if only someone will guide her.

She is not young, she is not old, but she is strong, she is pregnant; her children within her are Peace, Liberty, and Prosperity. She bears a mighty sword; its Name is "Terminus Est": in the Latin language, this means "this is the line of division"... She holds the Scales of Justice, or the balance-measure... Her sword is mighty. But where will it strike? Her Scales of Justice are expected to give true measure...
:::
(S)he shall not strike except where she is instructed, and strikes only when she is told that the balance weighs far to the side of guilt... or else it is not Justice which has done the deed... or perhaps Justice was not correctly informed.

Justice holds her scales, but she cannot read the balance. Justice holds a mighty sword and is herself the very figure of might, but she cannot know where to make the cut, or when to raise her best defense. Someone must tell her.
:::
Peace is defended by Justice, and when Liberty is defended with Peace, Prosperity also lives.

When Justice is instructed badly, when she is informed badly, she will miscarry -- her sword will strike herself -- and Peace, Liberty and Prosperity will all suffer, although while Justice lives, those three will begin again.
:::
If the law is flawed, you may, you must, also speak of this, or the balances are warped, and give no proper measure.

It is a great responsibility, and a greater honor. To do this is to assist at the birth of Peace, Liberty, and Prosperity. -END-

The "Select" NEW YORK TIMES's
Frank Rich (via Norway-way):

"A PROFILE IN COWARDICE"
THERE was never any question that President Bush would grant amnesty to Scooter Libby, the man who knows too much about the lies told to sell the war in Iraq. The only questions were when, and how, Mr. Bush would buy Mr. Libby’s silence. Now we have the answers, and they’re at least as incriminating as the act itself. They reveal the continued ferocity of a White House cover-up and expose the true character of a commander in chief whose tough-guy shtick can no longer camouflage his fundamental cowardice...
:::
Andrew Kohut of the Pew Research Center told NBC News that “when we ask people to summon up one word that comes to mind” to describe Mr. Bush, it’s “incompetence...”

But cowardice, the character trait so evident in his furtive
handling of the Libby commutation, is as important to understanding Mr. Bush’s cratered presidency as incompetence, cronyism and hubris...

Even The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page, a consistent Bush and Libby defender... called the Bush commutation statement a “profile in non-courage.”

What it did not recognize, or chose not to recognize, is that this [COWARDICE!] non-courage, to use The Journal’s euphemism, has been this president’s stock in trade...
Bush’s cowardice is arguably more responsible for the calamities of his leadership than anything else.

People don’t change. Mr. Bush’s failure to have the courage of his own convictions was apparent early in his history, when he professed support for the Vietnam War yet kept himself out of harm’s way when he had the chance to serve in it. In the White House, he has often repeated the feckless pattern that he set back then and reaffirmed last week in his hide-and-seek bestowing of the Libby commutation.

The first fight he conspicuously ran away from as president was in August 2001. Aspiring to halt federal underwriting of embryonic stem-cell research, he didn’t stand up and say so but instead unveiled a bogus “compromise” that promised continued federal research on 60 existing stem-cell lines. Only later would we learn that all but 11 of them did not exist... [ ! ]
:::
Nowhere is this president’s non-courage [COWARDICE...] more evident
than in the “signing statements” The Boston Globe exposed last year. As Charlie Savage reported, Mr. Bush “quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office.” Rather than veto them in public view, he signed them, waited until after the press and lawmakers left the White House, and then filed statements in the Federal Register asserting that he would ignore laws he (not the courts) judged unconstitutional. This was the extralegal trick Mr. Bush used to bypass the ban on torture. It allowed him to make a coward’s escape from the moral (and legal) responsibility of arguing for so radical a break with American practice.

In the end, it was also this president’s profile in non-courage [COWARDLINESS?] that greased the skids for the Iraq fiasco. If Mr. Bush had had the guts to put America on a true wartime footing by appealing to his fellow citizens for sacrifice, possibly even a draft if required, then he might have had at least a chance of amassing the resources needed to secure Iraq after we invaded it.

But he never backed up the rhetoric of war with the stand-up action needed to prosecute the war. Instead he relied on fomenting fear, as typified by the false uranium claims whose genesis has been covered up by Mr. Libby’s obstructions of justice. Mr. Bush’s cowardly abdication of the tough responsibilities of wartime leadership ratified Donald Rumsfeld’s decision to go into Iraq with the army he had, ensuring our defeat.

Never underestimate the power of the unconscious. Not the least of the revelatory aspects of Mr. Bush’s commutation is that he picked the fourth anniversary of “Bring ’em on” to hand it down. It was on July 2, 2003, that the president responded to the continued violence in Iraq, two months after “Mission Accomplished,” by taunting those who want “to harm American troops.” Mr. Bush assured the world that “we’ve got the force necessary to deal with the security situation.” The “surge” notwithstanding, we still don’t have the force necessary four years later, because the president never did summon the courage, even as disaster loomed, to back up his own convictions by going to the mat to secure that force.

No one can stop Mr. Bush from freeing a pathetic little fall guy like Scooter Libby. But only those who paid the ultimate price for the avoidable bungling of Iraq have the moral authority to pardon Mr. Bush.

George W. Bush's WAR IN IRAQ? "Oh... It's Going Very Well..."

Wednesday, July 04, 2007

............ 1776 - 2000 ...........

YEAH, Yeah, yeah...

The President (Cheney) and Vice President (Bush) should RESIGN, effective IMMEDIATELY!

COUNTDOWN's Keith Olberman...
"Special Comment," excerpted here:
...Mr. Bush commuted the prison sentence of one of his own staffers.

Did so even before the appeals process was complete; did so without as much as a courtesy consultation with the Department of Justice; did so despite what James Madison—at the Constitutional Convention—said about impeaching any president who pardoned or sheltered those who had committed crimes “advised by” that president;
did so without the slightest concern that even the most detached of citizens must look at the chain of events and wonder: To what degree was Mr. Libby told: break the law however you wish—the President will keep you out of prison?
:::
...When just one cooked book gets corrected by an honest auditor, when just one trampling of the inherent and inviolable fairness of government is rejected by an impartial judge, when just one wild-eyed partisan is stopped by the figure of blind justice,
this President (BUSH)
decides that he,
and not the law,
must prevail.

I accuse you, Mr. Bush,
of lying this country
into war.

I accuse you of fabricating in the minds of your own people, a false implied link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.

I accuse you of firing the generals who told you that the plans for Iraq were disastrously insufficient.

I accuse you of causing in Iraq the needless deaths of 3,586 of our brothers and sons, and sisters and daughters, and friends and neighbors.

I accuse you of subverting the Constitution, not in some misguided but sincerely-motivated struggle to combat terrorists, but to stifle dissent.

I accuse you of fomenting fear among your own people, of creating the very terror you claim to have fought.

I accuse you of exploiting that unreasoning fear, the natural fear of your own people who just want to live their lives in peace, as a political tool to slander your critics and libel your opponents.

I accuse you of handing part of this Republic over to a Vice President who is without conscience, and letting him run roughshod over it.

And I accuse you now, Mr. Bush, of giving, through that Vice President, carte blanche to Mr. Libby, to help defame Ambassador Joseph Wilson by any means necessary, to lie to Grand Juries and Special Counsel and before a court, in order to protect the mechanisms and particulars of that defamation, with your guarantee that Libby would never see prison, and, in so doing, as Ambassador Wilson himself phrased it here last night, of becoming an accessory to the obstruction of justice.
:::
But that you have twisted the machinery of government into nothing more than a tawdry machine of politics, is the only fact that remains relevant.

It is nearly July 4th, Mr. Bush, the commemoration of the moment we Americans decided that rather than live under a King who made up the laws, or erased them, or ignored them—or commuted the sentences of those rightly convicted under them—we would force our independence, and regain our sacred freedoms.

We of this time—and our leaders in Congress, of both parties—must now live up to those standards which echo through our history: Pressure, negotiate, impeach—get you, Mr. Bush, and Mr. Cheney, two men who are now perilous to our Democracy, away from its helm.

For you, Mr. Bush, and for Mr. Cheney, there is a lesser task. You need merely achieve a very low threshold indeed. Display just that iota of
patriotism which
Richard Nixon showed,
on August 9th, 1974...

RESIGN...

[Henceforth & forthwith!]
Amen! Preach-on... Brother Keith, Herb.
